2019 Potluck Picnic
Thank you to everyone who came to our Potluck Picnic on Aug. 17. Sponsored by the Chinquapin Organic Gardens Advisory Board, this year's event was the board's 21st annual picnic! We had a great time catching up and enjoying good eats.
Thank you also to Alexandria City Council member Mo Seifeldein for stopping by and helping honor our award winners, and to Kirsten Conrad of the Arlington County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension for judging the best gardens awards. See the list of who won the best gardens here!
Congratulations to the winners of this year's Tomato Taste-Off! Gardener Molly of plot D3 won for smallest ripe tomato and most unusual, earning the most awards for the second year in a row. Best tasting tomato was awarded to Diane Miller of F4 for her Mortgage Lifter. This year's best looking tomato was a Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye, grown by Elizabeth Charles in O3. The biggest tomato, grown by Chantal and Laura in H5, was a Big Virginia Sweet.
Take a look at all the fun we had in our photos. See you around the gardens!
